Exciting News! Discover our French Comic!

Our comic has been translated into French by Voix de Femmes!

The translation enables more people to read the comic and use it to educate themselves and others about forced marriage, to raise awareness, and develop practices of allyship.

The comic is a starting point to discuss questions of consent; healthy relationships; the laws related to marriage and forced marriage; victim-survivors and perpetrator constellations; reasons why people are pressured to marry against their will and how it can impact their lives; possible signs of forced marriage; where to seek help and support; and the relationship between forced marriage and other human rights violations and forms of ‘honour’-based abuse.

We hope the comic will help build communities where people who care about each other look out for their loved ones.

Voix de Femmes is a French NGO dedicated to assisting victims of forced marriage. You can look them up on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Marine-Emmanuelle from Voix de Femme said about the comic:

‘I Choose’, by combining relational education and prevention, is a valuable tool for students, teachers, and anyone wishing to learn more about this all-too-unreported violence. The non-stigmatizing illustrations, along with a profound understanding of the issue informed by practice, research, and the intersection of our disciplines, make it a remarkable resource. … We appreciate that everyone, whether facing forced marriage or knowing someone at risk of forced marriage, can find useful contacts and actions for their protection and support.
