Get to Know the Team: Hannah Gloudon from Savera UK Youth

Who are you?

I am Hannah Gloudon, a member of Savera UK Youth and the Youth Advisory Board’s current Chair. Outside of Savera UK, I currently work as a mental health research assistant.

When did you first become interested in forced marriage, or so-called honour-based abuse more broadly?

It was during my first session with Savera UK. I found them by chance and since my very first meeting, I have been dedicated to working as part of the team for this important cause. Prior to this, I had only briefly heard about FGM in a TV soap and didn’t know much else about HBA.

What was the last project you worked on, and did you enjoy it?

The last project I worked on was probably helping to put together and present at our last exhibition last year at LJMU. This is when we first showcased the Orange Brick Road video, about HBA and harmful practices, which people can learn more about here.

How did you get involved with the ‘Drawing on Forced Marriage’ project?

I found out about it during a Savera UK meeting. We all found this a particularly interesting idea and wanted to know more.

What about the project excites you?

I like projects that involve creativity and imagination when talking about harrowing topics.
